Mattias-GT

Mattias Ekeroth’s European background serves as the foundation of his training program today. A native of Malmo, Sweden, Mattias spent his junior years competing and riding up to a national level in Sweden and Scandinavia. At 19 he went to work in Germany, where he trained with Olympian Evelyn Blaton, and in Holland with Dan Nanning.

In 2001, Mattias traveled to California for what was meant to be a temporary trip. Eight years later, Mattias finds himself at the center of a thriving business built upon his own good name and a stellar record turning out successful show jumpers. Years spent breeding sporthorses in Europe trained Mattias’ eye in evaluating prospects of all ages. In just two years, Mattias has imported several horses from Europe, selling  most of  them on to successful careers in all three rings. Landor, Cantona and Ardius are a small handful of Mattias’ imports that have gone on to exceptional careers in the United States.

Mattias Ekeroth Stables is based one hour north of San Francisco in Petaluma, California. Mattias and his students are active competitors on the West Coast hunter/jumper show circuit.

“Mattias is very good about finding ways to accomplish goals without ever forcing the horse.”
